Ukraine plans to abolish conscription

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft decree from President Volodymyr Zelensky that organizes military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the State Special Transport Service.

This was reported on the Telegram channel by people's deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.

What will change:

• Career after the war - military personnel will receive ranks and positions based on competition (by rating), rather than solely based on years of service.
• Rotations - military personnel will be transferred to different positions to gain experience.
• New contract rules - the system for signing and extending contracts will be streamlined.
• New types of service - basic military service and reserve service will be introduced.
• No more conscription - this format will be abolished.

"These changes are part of a larger reform aligned with NATO standards. However, many of them will only take effect after the war," Honcharenko noted.
