On the morning of Saturday, January 11, a VAZ-2109 "Lada" caught fire in the center of Mykolaiv, near the police department building.

This was reported by a correspondent from "Novosti-N."

The driver had just exited the yard of his own home when he smelled smoke and saw flames bursting from under the hood, prompting him to stop immediately.

Firefighters who arrived at the scene quickly extinguished the vehicle, but by that time, the interior and the engine compartment were completely burned out, rendering the car totally unusable.

The car was equipped with a gas installation, and a smell of gas is still present at the scene, although the driver claims he was driving on gasoline, not gas.

No one was injured in the incident.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region reported that a unit from the 2nd state fire and rescue service was dispatched to the site. Firefighters swiftly contained the fire over an area of 3 square meters. Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle ignited during warm-up. The final cause is still under investigation.

A total of 8 firefighters and 2 special vehicles were involved from the State Emergency Service.
