In the Mykolaiv region, a well-repaired M-14 highway has become a concern for residents of the Yelanets community.

This was reported during a session of the Mykolaiv Regional Council by deputy Tatyana Demchenko.

The issue is that vehicles are traveling at high speeds on the newly renovated highway. The fast-moving cars pose a danger to people's lives, particularly in the villages of Vodnyano-Larino, Vossiyatyske, and Olhopol in the Yelanets district. Additionally, the deputy raised concerns about the lack of lighting.

- In the Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, and Kyiv regions, where this highway runs, it is illuminated during the evening hours. Here, we have complete darkness and speeding! A major renovation of the R-55 highway has begun — this is the route that will allow heavy vehicles to bypass Mykolaiv and head to Odessa via Voznesensk. Significant efforts have been invested, but at the intersection of the M-14 and R-55 highways, there is not only a lack of traffic lights but also basic lighting, - Demchenko stated.

The deputy requested to add safety issues regarding the aforementioned roads to the agenda for discussion, but there were not enough votes.

Meanwhile, the head of the regional council, Anton Tabunshchyk, reported that work is already underway regarding the lighting issue, with initial results emerging. A speed limit monitoring camera will also be installed — a decision has already been made by the National Police.

- All of Deputy Demchenko's requests are being addressed, - Tabunshchyk said.
