A dangerous beetle has been discovered in the Mykolaiv region.

The quarantine pest, the brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys Stal), has been discovered for the first time in the Mykolaiv region.

This information was reported by the State Consumer Service in the Mykolaiv region.

Infestations of the pest were identified by state phytosanitary inspectors in the city of Pervomaisk, specifically in the city park of culture and recreation "Friendship of Peoples" and within the urban development on Leonid Kushnyrenko Street. Samples of the bugs were sent to the Mykolaiv regional phytosanitary laboratory, where specialists confirmed the species of the insects found, namely – Halyomorpha halys Stal.

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine on "Plant Quarantine," a state phytosanitary inspector has submitted a proposal to the Pervomaisk District Military Administration for the introduction of quarantine measures and the establishment of phytosanitary activities aimed at localizing and eliminating this quarantine pest.
