A perpetrator in Mykolaiv, upon seeing a law enforcement officer, began to flee and subsequently struck the officer in the face with his head before wounding him with a knife.

This was reported by the communication department of the Mykolaiv region police.

The incident occurred on November 27. A police officer from the prevention sector of the Mykolaiv district police department approached the offender to invite him to the police station for the drafting of an administrative protocol for making a false report to the emergency line 102 (Article 183 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses).

Upon seeing the police officer, the perpetrator attempted to escape. When the officer caught up with him, the offender unexpectedly struck him in the face with the back of his head and began to attack with a knife, causing a cut to the officer's hand. As a result of the attack, the law enforcement officer sustained bodily injuries.

The 32-year-old perpetrator was detained by investigators under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The detained individual has currently been notified of suspicion for committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to "Intentional infliction of bodily harm to a law enforcement officer in connection with the execution of that officer's official duties." He faces a penalty of up to five years in prison. Additionally, the officers compiled an administrative protocol under Article 183 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses for "Knowingly false call to the police."

Today, the court has chosen a measure of restraint for the suspect in the form of detention without the right to bail.
