On Thursday, October 31st, which is the International Black Sea Day, the first international conference "Mykolaiv – A City on the Wave" commenced in Kyiv. This meeting focuses on the prospects for sustainable recovery and the systematic transformation of the city's economy based on the concept of "blue economy".

Over 100 participants gathered, including representatives from the Ukrainian government, international organizations, financial institutions, municipalities, businesses, and public organizations. Among them were Vitaliy Kim, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Ukraine Yako Silye, Managing Director of Rodin Genoff & Associates, international expert on clusters and innovation Rodin Genoff, and many others.

During the conference, the Strategy for the Development of the Mykolaiv City Territorial Community until 2027 was presented, as well as a vision for a new economic model for the city through the development of "blue economy". The current state of the city’s master plan and projects for the renewal and transformation of territories and districts, developed in collaboration with international organizations and experts, will also be discussed.

Vitaliy Kim welcomed the attendees and shared that Mykolaiv has undergone significant changes.
"The people of Mykolaiv have changed for the better. We now have a different motivation; we take pride in our achievements, our willpower, and we want to do our utmost to make Mykolaiv region the best," said Kim.
