The Ukrainian military shot down an enemy guided aerial bomb (GAB) in the suburbs of Zaporizhzhia.

Ukrainian defenders successfully intercepted a guided aerial bomb (GAB).

This was reported by military correspondent Andrey Tsapliyenko, citing sources within the Defense Forces.

According to the journalist, the enemy bomb was intercepted in the suburbs of Zaporizhzhia.

"Preliminary data suggests that it concerns experimental weaponry," Tsapliyenko noted.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the downing of the guided aerial bomb in Zaporizhzhia, but emphasized that this is not the first occurrence, as highlighted in Tsapliyenko's report.

"This is not the first time such a type of aerial attack tool as GAB has been shot down. Combat operations are ongoing against various targets - against missiles, drones, and this can include GABs. This is because GABs come in different types," said Yuri Ignat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of Ukraine, in a comment to UNIAN.

At the same time, he stressed that a comprehensive approach is needed to counter the enemy's use of GABs, rather than merely addressing the munitions themselves.

"It is essential to counter the enemy's tactical aviation that actually launches these GABs. In the past 24 years, the enemy has launched up to 40,000 guided aerial bombs at Ukraine. The Air Force is currently actively implementing a comprehensive approach to counter the use of GABs by enemy tactical aviation. Various countermeasures are being employed," Ignat added.
