Ukraine has secured one of the largest security deals in its history, according to the Ministry of Defense.
Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a significant agreement in the field of security and defense. The project, valued at £1.6 billion, will focus on strengthening Ukraine's air defense.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
On Sunday, March 2, during a meeting in Britain with a Ukrainian delegation led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, a strategic agreement was reached for the launch of the large-scale LMM-RapidRanger project aimed at bolstering Ukraine's air defense.
"As part of this initiative, we will receive over 5,000 LMM (Lightweight Multirole Missile) interceptors and their launch systems," – stated Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
He explained that LMMs are highly accurate interceptor missiles that effectively destroy drones such as the "Shahed." The Minister emphasized that these missiles have already proven their effectiveness in battles from 2022 to 2024.
"This agreement is one of the largest in Ukraine's history in the area of security and defense. The £1.6 billion project is aimed at strengthening Ukraine's air defense by 2030. It is funded through a loan guaranteed by the UK government agency UK Export Finance (UKEF)," - Umerov explained.
According to the Defense Minister, this project will be implemented in collaboration with the British company Thales, Ukrainian enterprises, and the government of Britain.

During a press conference following the summit, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a new agreement to assist Ukraine.
He stated that the agreement would allow Ukraine to utilize £1.6 billion of British export financing to procure an additional 5,000 missiles for air defense.
