The Kremlin continues to suffer significant losses in personnel to achieve tactical successes in the Donetsk region. Just this autumn, the enemy has lost nearly 126,000 soldiers during its offensives.
This is reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing a report from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
To begin with, analysts provided the latest data from the British Ministry of Defence. On December 5, they reported that in November 2024, the average daily losses of Russian personnel reached a new historical high of 1,523 casualties per day.
Additionally, on November 28, Russian forces suffered just over 2,000 losses in a single day for the first time. According to estimates, the total losses for Russians in November amounted to 45,690 soldiers. The British Ministry of Defence noted that November 2024 marked the fifth consecutive month of increased Russian losses.
As analysts state, they found geolocation evidence allowing them to estimate that Russian troops advanced at a rate of approximately 27.96 square kilometers per day in November. In total, during this month, the occupiers seized 839 square kilometers. This advancement occurred both in Ukraine and in the Kursk region.
Previously, ISW reported that Russian forces experienced increased losses in September and October 2024. During this period, the enemy lost 80,110 troops to capture approximately 1,517 square kilometers in Ukraine and the Kursk region.
Thus, Russians incurred about 125,800 personnel losses during the intense offensive operations in September, October, and November 2024. In exchange for such sacrifices, the Kremlin gained 2,356 square kilometers of territory.
Analysts also calculated these losses from a different perspective. According to their calculations, the enemy lost approximately 53 soldiers for every kilometer of captured territory.
As a reminder, as of the evening of December 5, 170 combat engagements were recorded on the front line. The enemy was most active in attempting attacks in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
