A regional council member flushed 1.2 million UAH down the toilet on Christmas Eve.
In Lviv region, a regional council member and his accomplice attempted to defraud a local entrepreneur by demanding 1.2 million hryvnias for non-existent "services."
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations.
They promised to assist in winning a tender for construction work, but the entrepreneur declined their offer. After he won the tender on his own, the criminals began to demand a share of the profits.
The entrepreneur agreed to pay and contacted the police. The offenders were apprehended while accepting a bribe of 25,000 dollars and 190,000 hryvnias.
The money intended for the bribe was attempted to be flushed down the toilet.
The council member and his accomplice have been charged with large-scale fraud. The issue of selecting a preventive measure is under consideration.
