In Mykolaiv, municipal enterprises are inviting students from vocational and technical educational institutions for internships to address the issue of staff shortages, with the aim of having these young individuals join them for permanent employment after graduation.
This was reported in a segment by the "Mart" TV channel.
The state enterprise "Mykolaivvodokanal," in collaboration with the Department of Education and Science of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, held a roundtable meeting with leading employers in the city and representatives from vocational educational institutions. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure the labor market is supplied with the necessary workforce, as all enterprises in the city are facing a shortage of skilled workers.
Director of "Mykolaivvodokanal," Boris Dudenko, spoke about the difficult situation at the enterprise due to the lack of qualified staff.
- We are experiencing a rather challenging situation at the enterprise because our industry is undervalued. Our professions are not considered prestigious at the moment. Today, we have a shortage of professionals such as fitters, drivers, and excavator operators. There are many such in-demand professions, - the head of the enterprise explained.
It is noted that the main focus was placed on young specialists who are nearing the end of their studies at vocational and technical educational institutions.
Director of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration's Department of Education, Alla Velikhova, mentioned that Mykolaiv has trained the first team of female tractor drivers in Ukraine. Thanks to collaboration between educational institutions and the enterprise "Agrofusion," all the young women are now employed.
- We initially began a very close collaboration with "Agrofusion." The first team of female tractor drivers is the first of its kind in Ukraine, and they are all working at this enterprise. Today, many companies have expressed a desire for us to prepare these students so that they can smoothly transition into their jobs upon graduation, - Velikhova shared.
It is emphasized that the collaboration between educational institutions and municipal enterprises will be a crucial step in addressing the issue of staff shortages.
Director of the Mykolaiv Center for Vocational Education, Oleksandr Mashkov, noted that prior to the war, educational institutions also partnered with municipal enterprises, sending students for practical training in their specialties. However, now, students will not only learn from professionals but also secure employment immediately after graduation.
