The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained the young men who were planning a terrorist attack near the district police department in Rivne.

This information was reported by the press service of the agency and the regional prosecutor's office.

Today in Rivne, law enforcement apprehended two agents of the Russian special services who were preparing an explosion near the district police department.

The perpetrators were supposed to leave a homemade explosive device disguised in a bag near the administrative building. After planting the explosives, their handlers intended to detonate it using a call to a mobile phone connected to the explosive device.

The attack was planned to occur when many law enforcement officers were near the police unit, while the agents would be close to the explosive device.

Thus, the Russians aimed to kill the maximum number of police officers and civilians while simultaneously eliminating the perpetrators of the attack as "unnecessary" witnesses.

Both suspects were caught "in the act" as they attempted to place the explosives near the district police department.

At the scene, law enforcement seized a bag from the detainees, which was loaded with explosives and additional covert surveillance tools with remote access capabilities for the Russian special services.

The criminals turned out to be two 19-year-old young men from Sumy region, who were seeking "quick" earnings in Telegram channels.

After arriving in Rivne, they received a geolocation of a stash from the occupiers, from which they retrieved explosives to carry out the attack.

The perpetrators are currently in custody. They face up to 12 years in prison with asset confiscation.
