Subsidies in Ukraine: What recipients can expect after the New Year.

If power outages continue and intensify in January, the subsidy amount will remain unchanged.
Субсидии в Украине: какие изменения ожидают получателей после Нового года?

Many residents of Ukraine are curious about what to expect regarding subsidies in the upcoming year and whether there will be any changes to the rules governing their allocation. This information comes from the Pension Fund.

As of December 1, subsidies in Ukraine will be issued for the duration of the heating season, specifically until April 30. This rule will remain in effect through 2025. The amount of the subsidy is calculated starting from the month in which the application was submitted. In January, individuals eligible to apply for subsidies include:

  • persons registered at the residence;
  • tenants with a valid lease agreement (the subsidy is granted until the date specified in the contract, provided it falls within the heating season);
  • internally displaced persons (IDPs) who confirm their residency with a certificate;
  • individual builders.

Additionally, the maximum allowable amount for one-time expenses that could hinder the receipt of a subsidy has recently been increased. This amount is now set at 100,000 hryvnias. If the expenses were for a generator or similar equipment, the maximum amount is 150,000 hryvnias.

Starting January 1, 2025, when submitting documents, the family income for the second and third quarters of 2024 will be taken into account, while pension income will be considered for November 2024. Subsidies may be revoked if the applicant fails to report changes in their property or social status.

Even in the event of increased electricity outages in January, the amount of the subsidy will remain unchanged. This is because the calculation of assistance is based on social consumption norms, and a reduction in actual electricity usage does not affect the subsidy amount.

As a reminder, on October 12, member of parliament and head of the special commission for the protection of IDPs, Pavel Frolov, explained how to apply for a subsidy for internally displaced persons.
