A resident of the Mykolaiv region threw a "Molotov cocktail" at a friend's house

Late on Saturday evening, December 28, the police department in the Voznesensk district received a report from a 41-year-old local man stating that an unknown man had thrown bottles containing flammable substances into the yard of a neighboring house.

This information was provided by the Mykolaiv region police communication department.

At the scene, police investigative teams confirmed that the owners had extinguished the fire themselves, resulting in damage to the garage door from the deliberate arson. Officers seized fragments of charred property and glass bottles, which were sent for forensic examination.

During the investigation and initial operational activities, police, with the assistance of criminal analysis specialists from the regional police department, identified a 46-year-old local resident as being involved in the crime.

The day before, a conflict had occurred between the suspect and the 16-year-old son of the victim, after which the suspect decided to seek revenge in this manner.

Investigators detained the man under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Currently, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, investigators have informed the suspect of the charges against him for committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, "Intentional destruction or damage to property by arson." The penalty for this article provides for up to ten years of imprisonment.

Measures regarding the suspect are being considered. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
