A resident of Mykolaiv region, who was on duty at the occupiers' checkpoints, has received a sentence.
The court found the 25-year-old resident of Mykolaiv guilty of aiding a state aggressor (part 1 of article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This information is reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
He has been sentenced to 11 years in prison, with a prohibition on holding positions in state authorities and local self-government for 12 years, and a confiscation of property.
“The convicted individual voluntarily agreed to serve at the occupiers' checkpoints during the temporary occupation of the populated areas of the Snihyrivka territorial community in the Bashtanka district in March 2022.
He, armed, stopped vehicles of local residents, forced them out of their cars, and confiscated mobile phones, passports, and other documents for inspection,” – the statement reads.
The perpetrator awaited his sentence in custody.
The period for appealing the decision is currently ongoing.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine.
