Zelensky stated that he is ready to leave his position if it is necessary for peace
President Vladimir Zelensky is prepared to step down if it means peace for Ukraine or in exchange for the country's NATO membership.
The head of state made this announcement at a press conference on Sunday, February 23.
When asked if he would leave the presidency if it would lead to peace, Zelensky responded:
"If it's peace for Ukraine, if you really need me to leave my position, I am ready. The second part is I could exchange it for NATO, if such conditions exist."
The president emphasized that he does not intend to hold power for decades.
Following this, Trump referred to Zelensky as a "dictator" and stated that he must act quickly if "Ukraine wants to survive as a country."
