Zelensky explained why Ukraine will not lower the conscription age
The West continues to pressure Ukraine regarding the reduction of the conscription age. However, mobilizing more people will only result in having more soldiers in the Defense Forces without weapons. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Bloomberg.
The head of state reminded that the conscription age in Ukraine is defined by legislation. As a result, laws had to be changed previously to lower the conscription age from 27 to 25 years. But this is far from all the reasons that Zelensky mentioned.
"If there are people aged 25 and over without weapons, then why do we want to conscript even younger individuals? To have even more unarmed people?" Zelensky rhetorically asked.
He emphasized that he finds it "unfair" when the West refuses to supply long-range weapons while demanding Ukraine mobilize young people.
