Zelensky is prepared to negotiate a territory exchange with the Russian Federation
Ukraine may propose a territory exchange with Russia if negotiations to end the war actually take place.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the British publication The Guardian, published on Tuesday, February 11.
According to him, he plans to offer Moscow a direct exchange - part of the territories of the Kursk region in exchange for Ukrainian territories.
"We will exchange one territory for another," the head of state declared.
Zelensky did not specify which part of the occupied territories Ukraine would demand in return.
"I don't know, we'll see. But all our territories are important; there is no priority," the president added.
As is known, on August 6, 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched the Kursk operation. At its peak, Ukrainian forces controlled up to 1,300 sq. km. Russia concentrated a significant grouping in this region and regained part of the territory. Meanwhile, Russian military losses were around 40,000 soldiers as of early January.
A week ago, Zelensky stated that the controlled territory of Kursk could become an important part of the negotiation process.
