“I am a wealthy person”: Mykolaiv agrarian Korymshkin denies prosecutor's accusations

Former deputy of the Mykolaiv Regional Council and businessman Yuriy Korymshkin stated that he does not need to borrow money from anyone or legalize it, as he is a wealthy individual. He denies the accusations made against him.

He made these comments during a session of the High Anti-Corruption Court that took place on Monday, January 27.

During the session, businessman Yuriy Korymshkin took the floor and informed the court that the money he received from his wife, people's deputy Iryna Korymshkina, as a loan, was lent to his business partner. According to him, this is documented in both his declaration and the declaration of the partner who received the funds.

- Your Honor, I fully support my lawyers. However, I personally want to add a few things regarding the content of the petition. Your Honor, I officially declare to you, as I have declared to the detective and the prosecutor, that the money I received from Iryna Valeryivna was provided to my business partner Koval Volodymyr Ivanovych at the beginning of 2024, when we had not yet undergone searches and no suspicions were announced against Iryna Valeryivna. I submitted a declaration indicating that the funds - 20 million - were lent to Koval Volodymyr Ivanovych. At that time, Koval Volodymyr Ivanovych was a deputy of the local council in Kyiv region. He also reflected this in his declaration, - said the businessman.

Furthermore, he stated that the prosecution has no evidence that the money taken as a loan was specifically used for the purchase of a house.

- There is no evidence from the prosecutor and the detective that the money I officially borrowed from my wife was directed toward purchasing a house - this is not confirmed. Even by the fact that in June, I also deposited 15 million into the “Vostok” bank, - said Yuriy Korymshkin.

Additionally, the defendant noted that he is actively engaged in charity work and has donated over 200 million hryvnias to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

- Between 2022 and 2025, I have directed over 200 million hryvnias to various funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Therefore, I have a question, Your Honor, why would I need to legalize 20 million when I am donating over 200 million to charity? – asked Yuriy Korymshkin.

He also provided the court with documents indicating that his group of companies paid taxes exceeding one billion hryvnias over four years of operation. Moreover, he emphasized that according to his declaration, his personal capital amounts to nearly 100 million hryvnias.

- I would like to present documents to the court showing that from 2020 to 2024, my companies paid nearly 1 billion hryvnias in taxes to all levels of our country's budgets. As the esteemed prosecutor stated, I am a very wealthy person, and according to my declaration, I have almost 100 million hryvnias. Why would I need to borrow money from someone and legalize it if I have that money? – asked the former deputy.

As previously reported, in October 2024, Iryna Korymshkina was suspected of illegal enrichment of over 20 million hryvnias, which she allegedly acquired during 2021-2022.

On January 23, 2025, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) announced suspicion against her husband Yuriy for the legalization of property that his wife acquired unlawfully.

According to the investigation, after the people's deputy acquired ownership of funds totaling over 20 million hryvnias, she allegedly lent them to her husband, who used them to purchase a property in the Odesa region.

The High Anti-Corruption Court (VAKS) selected a preventive measure for the well-known Mykolaiv agrarian Yuriy Korymshkin. He was assigned a bail of 15 million hryvnias.
