The construction of a new water pipeline and ensuring Mykolaiv has access to drinking water is being monitored by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

This was stated by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, Vitaliy Kim, during a broadcast on the "We" TV channel on the morning of February 25.

- Unfortunately, we have also become accustomed to the bad situation. We have access to drinking water, but there are inconveniences — there is no centralized drinking water supply. This is very inconvenient for both people and businesses. Currently, contractors are preparing the water pipeline, which the president approved in an expedited manner. We expect it to be completed by the end of summer. There is also the issue of the treatment facilities, which have also changed and need further development. However, work is being done in this direction by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Recovery Agency, - explained Kim.

He also confirmed that the issue of resuming centralized drinking water supply in Mykolaiv is under the president's oversight.

- At the end of last year, the president had two options to resolve the problem: a fast-track option under the "design-build" project, and funding from international donors — which would take two and a half years. The president said: people have been without water for two years, find the money and provide water for the people, so that by the end of summer there is water. Contracts have already been signed, and work is underway, - said the regional leader.
