The driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer, who left the roadway leading to the overturning of the vehicle in Mykolaiv, was found to be in a state of alcohol intoxication.

This information was reported by the communication department of the Mykolaiv region police.

The incident occurred on Friday, January 3, around 9:00 PM on Kuznechnaya Street, near the intersection with 7th Slobodskaya Street.

As a result, three passengers aged 36, 39, and 49 sustained varying degrees of injuries and were hospitalized.

During a medical examination, the driver was found to have 1.16 permille of alcohol in his blood.

The 42-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer was detained by investigators under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

In connection with this incident, the police have initiated criminal proceedings under part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for “Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles by persons in a state of intoxication.” The penalty for this article provides for up to three years of imprisonment and a driving ban for up to five years.

The man was informed of the suspicion by law enforcement, and a decision is being made regarding the measure of restraint.
