For the construction of a new water pipeline aimed at providing Mykolaiv with quality drinking water, the Ukrainian state budget has allocated 8 billion hryvnias.

This was disclosed in an exclusive interview with Novosti-N by the head of the regional military administration, Vitaly Kim.

The new pipeline will be laid from the Southern Bug River, near the city of Nova Odesa. This project has been allocated 8 billion in the state budget.

- The decision was made personally by the president, who instructed to urgently provide water to Mykolaiv, despite suggestions to seek points of contact with foreign partners on this matter and to take a loan from a foreign bank, which would have extended the process by 3-5 years. But the president insisted on finding budget funds, and not just finding them, but starting construction under the "design-build" plan, promptly. One of the final meetings regarding the water supply for Mykolaiv will take place soon. Importantly, tenders have already been held, contracts signed, and funds have been allocated in the budget. No one has stopped or interrupted work; everything is being done, everything is clear and understandable, - said the head of the regional military administration.

According to Vitaly Kim, the deadlines specified in the resolution on fund allocation are quite strict – by July 6, 2025. The Ministry of Infrastructure will be responsible for the construction.

- The project is quick; geodesy has already been completed. In the resolution that allocated the funds, it is stated: by July 6, 2025. The deadlines may be extended by a month or two, and excavation might start in January. In any case, everything will be completed in 2025. But the most important thing has been done — 8 billion has been included in the budget. The president said to do it quickly. Now there is physical funding in the budget, with signatures, there are deadlines, a contractor, and there is someone specifically responsible for this — the Ministry of Infrastructure. And that is the main point. I’ll be honest, once all this happened, I took out a bottle of whiskey and said I did well — now it’s your job, go and do it! It’s not my job to build; my job is to lobby for Mykolaiv. And I have done my job, - the governor concluded.
