On February 3, on Shosseynaya Street in Mykolaiv, representatives of the municipal enterprise "Mykolaiv Parks" were cutting down poplars after residents complained to the environmental inspection.
The complaints were not only about the removal of green spaces but also about the lack of barriers at the work site—one of the branches fell on a car.
Public eco-inspector Dmitry Ryabchenko shared his perspective on this incident.
“Our colleague, eco-inspector Natalia, who arrived at the scene, demanded that the workers provide a report on the tree cutting. However, the document presented had rather suspicious elements (we will check whether it is a forgery). When Natalia began to examine it more closely, the already infamous city worker from the "Parks" enterprise, Tatyana Skibitskaya—head of the gardening and park management department—forcefully snatched the protocol from Natalia's hands and showed her a 'fact'—then left. Such darkness,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
According to him, healthy trees were being cut down—Dmitry posted a photo as evidence.
He appealed to the leadership of the Ukrainian environmental inspection to respond to the situation regarding the removal of green spaces in Mykolaiv.
So far, the municipal enterprise "Mykolaiv Parks" has not commented on the tree removal and the conflict situation.
