In Mykolaiv region, an exceedance of the epidemic threshold for morbidity from influenza, ARVI, and COVID-19 has been recorded.
According to monitoring data for influenza and ARVI, including COVID-19, in the Mykolaiv region as of February 10, 2025, the morbidity indicators are within seasonal fluctuations; however, in certain areas, an exceedance of the epidemic threshold has been noted.
In the Mykolaiv region, morbidity is only 16.9% lower than the epidemic threshold, reports the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
An exceedance of the epidemic threshold of 12.7% (low level) has been registered in the Voznesensk district (due to the South Ukrainian and Voznesensk urban territorial communities).
As of the 6th week of 2025 (February 3–9, 2025), the ARVI morbidity rate, including COVID-19, stands at 401.6 per 100,000 population (4,382 people fell ill during the week, including 18 with COVID-19), which is 9.6% higher than the indicators from the week before, including an increase of 10.4% among children (2,730 cases compared to 2,473 cases from the week before), and an increase of 8.3% among adults (1,652 cases compared to 1,526).
The proportion of sick children constituted 62.3% of all patients, with the highest morbidity rates among children recorded in age groups up to 4 years (21.6% of all sick children) and 5-14 years (62.3%).
Across Ukraine, during the week prior, there was no exceedance of the epidemic threshold (-13.3%); however, in some regions, there was an exceedance of the epidemic threshold at medium level (Chernivtsi region) and low level (Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, and Ternopil regions).
The following regions also do not exceed the epidemic threshold:
- Bashchansky district – morbidity is 53.7% lower than the epidemic threshold;
- Voznesensky district – 17.5% lower;
- Mykolaiv district – 12.6% lower;
- Pervomaisky district – 37.1% lower;
– Mykolaiv city – 1.7 times lower.
The number of hospitalized individuals with COVID-19 is proportional to the level of morbidity; however, the number of severe cases admitted to intensive care units is quite low compared to the total number of hospitalizations, averaging only 5-6%.
During the past week, 167 individuals with influenza and ARVI were hospitalized, including 2 with COVID-19. No one was admitted to intensive care units.
No fatal cases due to influenza have been recorded.
At the same time, due to complications from COVID-19 in Mykolaiv region,
since week 34 (starting from August 19, 2024), 8 individuals have died. All deceased were elderly (4 residents of Mykolaiv city, 1 person each from Pervomaisky and Voznesensky districts, and 2 from Bashchansky district), who had comorbidities and had not been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the past year. There have been no fatal outcomes registered in the last 5 weeks.
