In the village of Blagodatne in the Mykolaiv region, human remains have been discovered at the ruins of a local school. Preliminary reports suggest that these may belong to a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who went missing during combat operations.

This information was reported by Suspilne.

It is noted that the remains were found by a member of the "Platsdarm" group. The excavations were initiated by volunteer Dmytro, who mentioned that the search idea arose after he was approached by the missing soldier's wife. According to her, the man may have been trapped under the rubble of the school where fighting occurred.

“Today we are clearing the debris. Initially, my friend and I came here based on the tip from the wife of the possibly deceased man, and we began to dig through the rubble. Unfortunately, we found human remains,” Dmytro stated.

The volunteers preliminarily discovered a severed limb in a shoe, which confirmed the likelihood of the soldier's death in the ruins. Oleksiy Yukov reported that the work was made possible with the help of local volunteers.

“A person has been missing for two years, and thanks to our joint efforts, we can bring another soul home so that the family can bury their loved one,” he noted.

Among the remains found were fragments of a large shin bone, muscle tissue, and small bone fragments.

According to volunteer Dmytro, the battle occurred during the offensive of the Russian army on the village. The Ukrainian Armed Forces defended themselves in the school, which served as a shelter. A direct hit on the building could have scattered remains across the area.

“We found a leg in the director's office, in the corner. There were also elements of equipment with the call sign of that guy, and honestly, seeing the markings on that equipment made me feel uncomfortable,” the volunteer remarked.

Yukov stated that some of the remains were found across the road.

“Our assumption is that part of the body was likely thrown to the surface of the ground, outside the building, possibly scattered by wild animals or there were many pigs here, as locals said, and dogs that dragged the remains away,” Yukov added.

According to the searchers, the wife and relatives of the missing person hoped that he was in captivity or under occupation. The wife wanted to be present during the excavations, but the searchers refused her, explaining that such an experience could be traumatic.

“For the parents, this is an entire universe; it is very important to bring every deceased person home, as their souls do not rest until they are buried,” Yukov concluded.

The discovered remains have been handed over to forensic medical examination for DNA analysis.
