In the village of Bereznegovatoe in the Bashtanka district of Mykolaiv region, a man locked his partner in their home and threatened to detonate a grenade.
This information was reported by the Bashtanka district police department.
The police received a call from the victim herself: she stated that her partner was committing domestic violence and had threatened to blow up a grenade while barricaded in their house.
Immediately, an investigative task force and bomb disposal experts were dispatched to the scene. Law enforcement determined that a 53-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol, was quarreling with his partner out of jealousy and had threatened to detonate a grenade while locked inside the house.
Police confiscated an F-1 grenade casing and a UZRG-2 detonator from the suspect. During a search, law enforcement also found an additional 46 rounds of 5.45 mm caliber ammunition and one round of 5.34 mm caliber.
According to the man, he found the ammunition near the village in former combat zones and had stored them in his garage.
Investigators detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Under the procedural guidance of the Bereznegovatoe department of the Bashtanka district prosecutor's office, he was informed of the suspicion under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for "Illegal handling of weapons, military supplies, or explosives," which carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison.
Currently, the court has placed the suspect under round-the-clock house arrest. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
