In Mykolaiv region, a dead wild boar has been found, having succumbed to African Swine Fever. Quarantine measures have been implemented.

A wild boar carcass has been found in the Mykolaiv region, having died from ASF – quarantine declared

In one of the districts of the Mykolaiv region, a wild boar carcass was discovered in the forest, which had died from African Swine Fever (ASF).

This was reported by the Main Department of the State Food and Consumer Service in the Mykolaiv region.

During a hunting trip on January 11, hunters from the hunting grounds of LLC "Hunters of Arbuzynshchyna" found the carcass of a wild boar approximately 3 km from the village of Lyuboiivka, in the Blahodatne community of the Pervomaisk district.

Upon examination of the pathological (biological) material samples collected, the Mykolaiv Regional State Laboratory of the State Food and Consumer Service confirmed the diagnosis of African Swine Fever (ASF) on January 13.

To coordinate actions for the localization and elimination of the ASF outbreak, a meeting of the State Emergency Anti-Epidemic Commission was held on January 14 at the Blahodatne Village Council, where a plan for ASF eradication was approved, and the boundaries of the epizootic focus, as well as the protection and surveillance zones, were defined.

The epizootic focus was established at the site where the wild boar carcass was found, within the hunting grounds of LLC "Hunters of Arbuzynshchyna," patrol area No. 5, approximately 3 km from the village of Lyuboiivka, in the Blahodatne community of the Pervomaisk district, Mykolaiv region.

The protection zone, with a radius of 3 km from the epizootic focus, includes the settlements of Lyuboiivka, in the Blahodatne community of the Pervomaisk district, Mykolaiv region, as well as the territory of the hunting grounds of LLC "Hunters of Arbuzynshchyna" (patrol areas No. 4 and No. 5).

The surveillance zone, with a radius of 4 km from the external boundaries of the protection zone, includes the settlements: Sadoove, Voievods'ke, Blahodatne, Vynogradnyi Yar, and the pig breeding and raising farm of SOOO "Promen," located in Voievods'ke, Blahodatne community, Pervomaisk district.

At this stage, measures are being taken to eliminate the ASF outbreak in accordance with the requirements of the Instruction on the Prevention and Control of African Swine Fever, approved by the order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine dated March 7, 2017, No. 111, registered in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on March 29, 2017.
