In the Mykolaiv region, a public utility official was caught accepting a bribe.

A perpetrator demanded and received $1,000 from a woman to expedite the process of preparing technical documentation for real estate projects she intended to build.

This information has been reported by the communication department of the Nikolaev region police.

It was noted that law enforcement officials uncovered and halted the criminal activities of the head of one of the communal enterprises in Voznesensk. During the investigation, it was established that the 57-year-old official demanded $1,000 from the citizen to prepare the necessary technical documentation for the real estate projects she plans to construct in the future. The official assured the woman that for an illegal fee, he would include false information in the official document, indicating buildings that were not present. He claimed that following the legal procedure for construction would be longer and more expensive.

The authorities apprehended the perpetrator under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after he received the unlawful benefit.

Investigators informed the detained individual of the suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, specifically for receiving unlawful benefits for himself as a public official in exchange for any actions taken in favor of the individual providing the unlawful benefit, using his official position or authority, combined with the demand for such benefits.

The official faces up to 10 years in prison, along with a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years, and confiscation of property.

A decision is being made regarding the choice of a preventive measure against the perpetrator.
