In Mykolaiv, a man was arrested for murdering his mother-in-law in Khmelnytskyi.

A man who killed his mother-in-law in Khmelnytskyi has been detained in Mykolaiv.

In Mykolaiv, police have located and arrested the perpetrator who murdered a 79-year-old woman from Khmelnytskyi. The victim's family discovered her body on February 6, and the following day, the suspect was apprehended by police.

This information was reported by the Khmelnytskyi region police.

On February 6, in an apartment on Shukhevych Street in Khmelnytskyi, the daughter found her 79-year-old mother’s body with fatal head injuries.

Suspicion fell on the daughter’s 51-year-old partner, who had exhibited aggressive behavior the day before, having assaulted his 53-year-old girlfriend and left their shared residence with his belongings. Reviewing surveillance footage from outside the victim's home confirmed this theory — on February 5, the man was at her place, where the murder took place.

Investigators determined that the perpetrator headed to Mykolaiv, his hometown. With the assistance of the Mykolaiv police, he was detained on February 7. A phone, which likely belonged to the murdered pensioner, was seized from him.

Investigators from the Khmelnytskyi regional police, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, have already announced the suspect's indictment under Part 1 of Article 115 (Intentional Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Additionally, the Khmelnytskyi district police have initiated criminal proceedings against him under Article 122 (Intentional Moderate Bodily Harm) for the assault on his girlfriend.

During the investigation, the court placed the suspect in custody without the right to bail.
