In Mykolaiv, a division commander was detained for selling vacation rights.

A former commander of a division from a military unit stationed in the Kherson direction has been apprehended in Mykolaiv and is facing charges for systematically extorting money from his subordinates.

This information was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI).

The perpetrator effectively "sold" vacations to military personnel while concealing their absences from command. Additionally, he demanded money from the soldiers, threatening them with penalties for alleged breaches of military discipline.

His subordinates compensated him not only with cash but also with services, purchasing household and computer equipment, as well as items for his children.

According to operational data, the official "earned" nearly 1 million UAH through these actions in 2023-2024.

Thanks to collaboration with military personnel, SBI agents were able to expose the wrongdoer.

The official has been detained in Mykolaiv and is facing charges under Part 3 of Article 368 and Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (accepting a bribe in a particularly large amount and exceeding official powers).

The penalties for these offenses include up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The suspect has been placed in custody with the possibility of posting bail amounting to 1 million 200 thousand hryvnias.
