Members of the Mykolaiv City Council are seeking to allocate financial assistance for the treatment of a 14-year-old girl who was injured during an enemy shelling that occurred on November 17.

This information was revealed during a meeting of the permanent deputy commission of the Mykolaiv City Council on "ethics" issues.

The report on this matter was presented by the director of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Mykolaiv City Council, Serhiy Vasylenko. He explained to the commission members that according to their department's regulations, the maximum amount of financial assistance they can allocate is 10,000 hryvnias, which is insufficient given the girl's critical condition.

- During the shelling, her mother was killed, and the daughter, who is 14 years old, is in very serious condition—she has had one foot amputated. The 10,000 hryvnias we can provide is not enough. Therefore, we are appealing to the commission to allocate 50,000 hryvnias for her treatment. She just came out of intensive care a few days ago and requires extensive medical examination and assistance, - Serhiy Vasylenko stated.

The head of the commission, Elena Kiseleva, noted that this amount would be insufficient and suggested that the commission advocate for doubling the amount to allocate 100,000 hryvnias from the city budget for the victim.

However, Serhiy Vasylenko informed the deputies that the sum of 50,000 had already been approved by a special commission, and to avoid wasting time as the year is coming to a close, he proposed to vote for the allocation of financial assistance in the amount of 50,000 in 2024, with a request for additional financial support in January 2025.

As a result, the deputies unanimously supported this proposal.

As a consequence, private residential houses, a multi-story building, passenger cars, a shopping center, and an infrastructure facility were damaged. Several fires also broke out.

It is known that two women died, and seven people were injured, including two children.

In one area, as a result of the nighttime shelling of Mykolaiv, at least four residential houses were destroyed on one of the city streets.

In the center of Mykolaiv, office buildings were damaged due to the shelling.

In another area, three houses were destroyed, and at least six were damaged.
