A "Social Housing" building is set to be constructed in Mykolaiv.

In Mykolaiv, the municipal service "Solyany" will be repurposed into an enterprise focused on social housing.

This was announced by Igor Nabato, the deputy director of the housing and communal services department, during a meeting of the permanent deputy commission on housing and communal services, which took place on Tuesday, December 17.

The official informed the commission members about the need to cancel the decision to liquidate the municipal service "Solyany," as it is intended to be repurposed.

- There is a current necessity to create a separate municipal enterprise that will deal with social housing. There is no need to establish a new entity, as we already have an existing enterprise that is essentially vacant and can simply be repurposed. To do this, we first need to cancel the liquidation procedure that was adopted in 2023, and as a second step, we will initiate amendments to the charter and approve the charter of "Solyany" in a new version. We might even change its name. The new enterprise will focus on social housing. Alexander Fedorovich initiated this issue about two weeks ago, stating that a company would be created in Mykolaiv to ensure the maintenance of social housing, which is currently a significant concern, - shared Igor Nabato.

He further explained that social housing will be provided to citizens who need improved living conditions or to invited specialists coming to Mykolaiv for work. Furthermore, social housing cannot be privatized. The enterprise set up based on the old municipal service "Solyany" will maintain it properly.

- Social housing is accommodation that cannot be privatized. It is offered to citizens in need of improved living conditions, which is the first category, and the second category includes citizens invited to work in Mykolaiv. The city provides them with suitable housing without the right to privatize such apartments, - Nabato explained.

The official also noted that Mykolaiv is one of two cities participating in the implementation of the "Social Housing" project. The construction of social housing will be financed by a private Danish fund.

- Currently, Mykolaiv is one of two cities involved in the project supported by a private Danish fund that plans to facilitate the construction of an apartment building. This building will eventually have the status of social housing in the "Solyany" neighborhood of Mykolaiv. It is important to mention that similar enterprises are already functioning in many cities across Ukraine, - the official concluded.

As a result, the members of the deputy commission supported this draft decision.
