The deadline for voluntary return from AWOL status is set to be extended - OP
The authorities plan to extend the timeframe for voluntarily returning to service after being absent without leave (AWOL). This was announced by Iryna Vereshchuk, the Deputy Head of the President's Office.
"The deadline for voluntarily returning to service under AWOL status expires on January 1, 2025. The idea is to extend this deadline (the exact duration is still under discussion). So, this is currently just an idea, but we have already begun discussions with the defense committee of the Verkhovna Rada," Vereshchuk wrote on her Telegram channel.
There is also consideration for incentivizing recruiters from combat units for successfully bringing deserters back to their units.
"If someone manages to successfully reintegrate a soldier into the ranks, then we need to allow people to work and support them in every possible way," she emphasized.
