Spokesperson for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmitry Pletenchuk, discussed the likelihood of an offensive by the Russian army in the Kherson region and why this area is not a priority for the occupiers.

He made these comments during the program "Dialogue."

According to Dmitry Pletenchuk, there are currently no signs that the Russian army aims to launch an offensive in the Kherson direction.

- Their potential remains quite significant. However, in most cases, they are forced to redistribute it. This is not our area of responsibility for the Naval Forces. It is specifically the left bank. But from the reports I’ve seen this morning, there is currently no notable activity there. Yes, there are some attempts. You can see that they are shelling Kherson; I can't say it's for entertainment, probably it's for military presence. And to say that, as of now, this direction is one where they are making significant efforts would be inaccurate. There are other sections of the front where they are genuinely exerting significant effort, where fierce combat is currently taking place. Those directions are their priorities, - said the spokesperson for the Naval Forces of Ukraine.

He also pointed out that the main reason the Russian army does not aim to advance in the Kherson direction is the natural barrier separating the right and left banks of Kherson.

- This direction remains a lower priority for them because there is a natural obstacle – the Dnieper River. And it is quite a significant barrier because, even if they manage to cross it, logistics and support remain essential for combat operations to occur, making it very challenging. Therefore, I doubt that there is a direct threat of a possible advance to the right bank at this time. We should not forget that the right bank is higher than the left, and accordingly, we have advantages, - concluded Dmitry Pletenchuk.
