NSDC Imposes Sanctions Against Poroshenko

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) convened on Wednesday, February 12, and imposed sanctions against deputy and former President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.

This was reported by Forbes citing sources.

According to one of the publication's informants, the sanctions could have been introduced under the article concerning treason.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the NSDC meeting in an evening address, stating, “A decision has been made and will be published tomorrow.”

“We are protecting our state and restoring justice. Anyone who has undermined Ukraine's national security and assisted Russia will be held accountable. The billions earned through the effective sale of Ukraine, its interests, and security must be blocked and redirected to protect Ukraine and Ukrainians,” Zelensky declared.

The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Regulation, Deputy Ethics, and Parliamentary Organization voted on Thursday, January 30, to suspend Poroshenko from participating in legislative sessions for six months.

As reported by the EU, the decision was supported by six committee members, one opposed, and three abstained. Allies of Petro Poroshenko claimed that his suspension from sessions creates a “parliamentary crisis” and threatens Ukraine's European integration.
