The EU leadership commented on the scandal in the USA
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen responded to the dispute between the Ukrainian and American presidents, expressing her support for Volodymyr Zelensky. She made her post on social media X in Ukrainian. "Your dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be courageous, be fearless. You will never be alone, dear President @ZelenskyyUa. We will continue to work with you for a just and sustainable peace," the message states. Similar posts were made on social media X by President of the European Council António Costa and President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola. Meanwhile, the EU's High Representative, Kaja Kallas, not only supported Zelensky but also stated the need for a new leader of the free world. "Ukraine is Europe! We stand together with Ukraine. We will strengthen our support for Ukraine so it can continue to resist the aggressor. It has become clear today that the free world needs a new leader. It is up to us, Europeans, to accept this challenge," wrote EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas. Her predecessor in this role, Josep Borrell, described the behavior of Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance as a "shameful show." "Trump and Vance put on a shameful show. I am ashamed of such behavior. The USA deserves better," Borrell wrote on X. According to him, "the free world must support Ukraine." Borrell added that he has been and remains with President Zelensky.
