Russia is open to negotiations regarding the end of the war in Ukraine, but any future agreement between the warring parties must be unbreakable.

This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with TASS, as reported by Focus.

Lavrov asserts that Russia has always been and continues to be ready for negotiations. However, discussions can only revolve around "reliable, legally binding agreements that must eliminate the root causes of the conflict," he added.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also emphasizes that the agreement should establish a mechanism to prevent violations of the agreements. When discussing the possibility of negotiations, the minister noted that it is essential to understand "who to negotiate with and about what." The discussions should not be about trivial matters, concluded Lavrov.

At the same time, Russia is not satisfied with the proposals from the team of elected U.S. President Donald Trump to postpone Ukraine's NATO membership for 20 years and to introduce a contingent of EU and British peacekeepers there.

"He [Trump] is talking about a 'freeze' on hostilities along the line of combat contact and transferring further responsibility for the confrontation with Russia to the Europeans. We are certainly not satisfied with proposals to delay Ukraine's NATO membership for 20 years and to introduce a peacekeeping contingent of 'British and European forces' into Ukraine," the minister emphasized.

According to him, Moscow has not received any official signals from the U.S. regarding the resolution of the war from the administration of the current President Joe Biden.
