Russia attacked Ukraine with "Shaheds": explosions were reported in several regions, and there are casualties
On the night of Friday, January 24, Russian occupiers launched an attack on Ukraine using Shahed combat drones. As a result of the attack, at least two people lost their lives.
The Air Forces reported on the movement of "Shaheds" across several regions. At approximately 3:13 AM, air defense systems were activated in the Kyiv region. At least one drone was detected over the capital.
Another group of drones entered the Zhytomyr region. The Air Forces also indicated a threat to Staro Konstantinov in the Khmelnytskyi region.
Acting Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, stated that two people died as a result of enemy UAV attacks on Kyiv Oblast on the night of January 24.
"One deceased was found at the scene of a fire in a private home due to debris from a downed target. The fire has now been extinguished. The second victim is a 36-year-old man in another locality, where a residential ten-story building was damaged," Kalashnyk noted.
At the site of the damaged apartment building, two individuals sought medical assistance following the fire. A 26-year-old man suffered superficial burns to his upper respiratory tract. A 38-year-old woman experienced an acute stress reaction.
"The fire has been extinguished. Currently, a point of invincibility for residents is operating near the damaged apartment building at a school. A tent with water and hot beverages has also been set up at the site," he added.
At the same time, Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported that a group of three "Shaheds" was detected in the airspace of the region. Air defense systems are in operation.
"Currently, all are heading towards Lviv," Kozytskyi specified.
Kozytskyi later clarified that the airspace over the Lviv region is now clear. Reconnaissance is ongoing. He urged residents to remain in shelters until the all-clear is given.
At 6:51 AM, the Air Forces announced that the threat of enemy strikes using combat UAVs in the regions had been lifted.
