Vladimir Putin clings to any opportunity to avoid sitting down for negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This statement was made by the head of the Ukrainian state during an interview that was broadcasted during a telethon. Zelensky emphasized that Putin "essentially does not want any dialogue."

"Why such an attitude towards Ukraine and the Ukrainian people? Because no one could have imagined that the entire army, which has been talked about and threatened for so many years – this whole machinery failed to accomplish its task: the occupation of Ukraine," – he noted.

The president stressed that even mere negotiations with Ukraine represent a fundamental loss for Russia.

"Why negotiations? Because this is not an ultimatum, where they sit in the capital and say: it will be this way and that way. They did not fulfill their task, which Putin set for them. So for him, this is truly not a victory," – Volodymyr Zelensky concluded.
