Putin has announced an ultimatum for ending the war: Bloomberg published the conditions
Russia is ready to discuss the conclusion of the war and has already outlined its demands, which will be conveyed to the negotiators of newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump. One of the main conditions is a guarantee of Ukraine's neutral status, a renouncement of its army, and a refusal to join NATO.
Bloomberg reported on the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding peace in its article.
The publication revealed information about Putin's ultimatum, as conveyed by unnamed officials at the White House. One of the hinted demands from the Kremlin is the willingness to exchange a portion of the territories occupied by Russians for parts of the Kursk region currently held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Anonymous sources relayed four conditions for Ukraine's capitulation:
Bloomberg's article did not specify which territory Putin is willing to give up, but it mentioned the lost parts of the Kursk region, where the Ukrainian Defense Forces are located. It also clarified the limitations on the army that the Russians had previously mentioned: no more than 85,000 soldiers, 342 tanks, and missiles with a range of up to 40 km.
The publication did not provide further details on the Kremlin's ultimatum. However, it mentioned secret negotiations that Ukraine and Russia are allegedly conducting in Qatar. The topic of these negotiations is "rules for protecting nuclear facilities from attacks," said an anonymous source to journalists.
"The issue of territories is not the main problem of the conflict. It has a much broader context that, apparently, is still not fully understood in the West," concluded Bloomberg, quoting the words of Tatiana Stanovaya, a representative of the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center.
On the map from analysts at DeepState, one can see the configuration of the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russians. The estimated area of occupation is 108,170.4 sq. km (17% of the total area of 603,628 sq. km). Meanwhile, the part of the Kursk region controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which Putin would likely want to reclaim, is 424.31 sq. km.
