"I'm in favor of it for the guys": Kim spoke about lowering the conscription age

The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim, shared his views on the reduction of the conscription age in Ukraine. He stated that young individuals aged 18-25 are the most effective.

He expressed this in an interview with TSN.

- This is not a popular decision. Zaluzhnyi previously mentioned that this should be done. In reality, the most effective guys are those aged 18-25. I had a guy who was a bit of a troublemaker; he went there. Now he has state medals and awards – a real champ. Just because you’re young, strong, quick-thinking, and have a talent for technology, that is undoubtedly effective. Whether this is the right decision or not, I don’t know. I don’t have the data to draw that conclusion, – says Vitaliy Kim.

He noted that this issue can be viewed from multiple perspectives – from the state's viewpoint and from the perspective of the relatives of those who will be mobilized.

- I think about this in two parallel dimensions. The first is the state’s position, and the second is the personal one. The personal aspect is when you have a son, a brother, and so on. I can speak on this because my younger brother, who is not of conscription age, joined the army and is now a company commander; my sister serves, and all my acquaintances are in service. I have the right to express my opinion… But I don’t draw conclusions because this issue is complicated and difficult. A brother is a brother. But what if it’s a daughter? My daughter will turn 18 soon, and she would go into the army. I have thought about this for myself. She doesn’t understand anything. So, for my 18-year-old daughter, I am against it; for the guys, I’m "for", – says Vitaliy Kim.
