The ombudsman made a statement regarding human rights violations by representatives of the TCC.
The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, commented on the issue of human rights violations by employees of the TCC and SP.
The ombudsman's statement on this matter was released on Thursday, February 27, via his Telegram channel.
According to him, he "responds appropriately" to each report and added that this does not always happen "publicly."
The ombudsman stated that he sends letters to regional TCCs and SPs, the military law enforcement service, and, if necessary, to other state and law enforcement agencies.
"And if a human rights violation is confirmed, I demand an appropriate response. For example, my representative in Kharkiv, Oksana Chervyakova, dealt with a recent case of a soldier being beaten, presumably by TCC and SP employees. The video circulated on social media. To clarify the circumstances of the incident, she sent a letter to the OTC."
The human rights commissioner also provided an example where his representative in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Vitaliy Verbovoy, responded to a complaint. Unknown individuals, likely TCC and SP employees, beat him, put him in a car, and transported him to an unknown building in another settlement. The representative went to the hospital, spoke with the complainant, medical staff, and National Police officers regarding the circumstances and severity of the injuries sustained.
"There are instances when TCC and SP employees may obstruct the activities of my representatives, such as Yuliya Spas in Volyn, or do not allow lawyers to access the victims," - noted the ombudsman.
At the same time, he addressed the Ukrainian people:
"Mobilization continues, together we are fighting for our future, independence, our values, our land, and our desire to live in a rule of law state. Be conscientious, update your information, and register for military service. After all, we all have not only rights but also obligations to the state."
As we previously reported, in Kharkiv, a man riding a bicycle was pushed by a man in uniform. As a result of the incident, the cyclist fell to the ground. Following this, other soldiers arrived and forcibly put the cyclist into a van.
