The Mykolaiv Polytechnic is suing the ministry over the revocation of its license
The court proceedings continue regarding the lawsuit filed by the International Technological University "Mykolaiv Polytechnic" against the Ministry of Education and Science concerning the loss of its educational license in the field of higher education. The case is to be reviewed by the Mykolaiv District Administrative Court.
This was stated in the response from the Ministry of Education and Science to an information request from reporters of Suspilne.
The basis for the university's license revocation on November 5, 2024, was the update of students in specialties for which enrollment has not been conducted since 2019 due to changes in the list of specialties and fields of knowledge according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 266.
Acting Rector Yevgenia Polyakova stated on November 14, 2024, in a comment to the public that the university is operational and holds a license, referencing the entry in the Unified State Electronic Database on Education. However, she later declined to provide further comments.
Lawyer Andriy Sachenko states that under such circumstances, the university cannot enroll students in specialties for which the license has been revoked, nor can it issue diplomas in those areas.
According to him, the revocation of the university's license does not serve as grounds for terminating a student's status.
"Students can transfer to other faculties that still have a license or move to another educational institution if possible, or request a refund if they terminate their contract after having paid for their education under a contract form."
It became known that the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine revoked the license for educational activities from the International Technological University "Mykolaiv Polytechnic" back in November 2024, although the university denied this.
