Beginning January 1, 2025, mobilization in Ukraine will continue, primarily affecting military-eligible men aged 18 and older who have served in the army or completed military training, as well as those aged 25 to 60 without any military experience.

Is women's mobilization possible in Ukraine in 2025?

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed draft law No. 12076 in its first reading on December 3, 2024, which states that if a woman expresses a desire to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), she must register as a conscript and undergo basic military training. All their data will be included in the military registry, and once the newly minted future service member completes the basic military training, she will automatically be considered military obligated.

Since there is no gender distinction in the Constitution of Ukraine, all obligations of men to the state during a special military period will also automatically apply to women.

However, the mobilization law does not require women to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine; female representatives can only sign a contract on a voluntary basis.

Will there be mobilization for women in 2025 for medical professionals and pharmacists?

As mentioned earlier, women's mobilization in Ukraine on a compulsory basis is not possible, so only those women who voluntarily decide to become part of the country's army can do so.

Women with medical or pharmaceutical education who are 18 years old must have documentation confirming their registration for military service. This applies to all female medical and pharmaceutical professionals aged 18 to 60 who are fit for service based on their health. The personal data of such specialists will also be included in the registry, but, at this time, this does not mean automatic military obligation for women.

Starting January 1, 2025, forced mobilization of women in Ukraine is not planned—the list of professions, specifically from medical and pharmaceutical universities, for which women must register for military service, was compiled for a different reason. Collecting this data will help determine the current reserve of important specialists in the country.
