"The mayor and deputies are not to blame": why the number of cut-down trees has increased in Mykolaiv
The mayor and deputies do not make decisions regarding tree removals in Mykolaiv — it is a matter of a collective decision by specialists.
This was stated during a briefing by the director of the municipal enterprise "Mykolaiv Parks," Dmytro Chuchmai.
- The mayor and deputies are not involved at all. There are planned works by the enterprise, and there are specialists who understand what needs to be done and what does not. Tree removals require the submission of necessary documents. Acts, orders, directives, and so on. This process involves not only the enterprise's employees but also the housing and communal services and the state ecological inspection — we do not remove a single tree without their approval. These are collective decisions, which are confirmed by signatures and the provision of necessary documents. It cannot be that Senkevych and Chuchmai just made something up and went to cut and remove trees, - said the director of the municipal enterprise.
He also clarified that the employees of the enterprise respond to complaints from residents about dry and emergency trees. Additionally, the specialists monitor the condition of green spaces and may initiate their removal, but the decision is still made collectively.
According to Chuchmai, it often happens that apparently healthy trees "suddenly fall."
- It was a beautiful tree on the outside, but for some reason, it fell on someone's car. Inside, it was rotten. So when they fall — no one can tell you why, - said Dmytro Chuchmai.
- To prevent trees from falling, preventive measures need to be taken, - added the head of the engineering and dendrology department of the municipal enterprise, Yelena Nedelskaya.
It was also reported that all the pines that were grandly planted in Victory Park in Mykolaiv have completely dried up.
