When will electricity prices rise: the energy minister has provided an answer
The electricity tariff set in Ukraine will remain in effect for the current heating season. The government has no plans for an increase.
This was stated by Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko during the "Hour of Questions to the Government" on January 17.
"The existing tariff allows for financial balancing of the market. Therefore, there are currently no plans to raise the tariff," the minister assured.
According to him, there are no prerequisites for an increase in electricity costs at this time. The only condition that could drastically change the situation is Russian shelling, the minister said.
"Unless the level of destruction reaches a point where they simply cannot maintain it physically. For example, 'Ukrenergo' – a tariff organization, carries out all recovery using its own funds. Therefore, it would have to be such a global destruction to raise this issue," Halushchenko noted.
The head of the Ministry of Energy also confirmed that tariffs for gas and its distribution will remain in effect.
