This was reported by the Mykolaiv region police and the Mykolaiv region prosecutor's office.

The investigation revealed that in September 2024, three offenders aged 37, 35, and 18 approached their 34-year-old fellow villager. Due to personal animosity, they assaulted him, forced him into a car, and drove him to a field. There, they confiscated his phone, doused him in paint, covered him with feathers, and set him on fire. Later, the suspects extinguished the flames and took the victim back home, where they left him.

The man sustained burns over more than 60% of his body. Subsequently, he died in the hospital.

At that time, the police detained the suspects under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and notified all three of them of suspicion for committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to "Illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping," punishable by up to five years in prison.

Additionally, the 35-year-old detainee was charged with causing intentional bodily harm, which resulted in severe suffering and led to the victim's death (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as well as for leaving the victim in danger (Part 1 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The 38-year-old offender was also charged with robbery (Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
