In Ukraine, from January 1, 2025, gas transportation tariffs for Ukrainians will rise four times.
This decision was made by the National Commission for Energy Regulation during a meeting, in light of the cessation of Russian gas transit.
"In 2024, 85% of our revenue comes from gas transportation originating from the Russian Federation. This means that only 15% is what we receive from domestic customers. The tariff increase is not sufficient for full compensation, but we understand that the Ukrainian economy needs balanced solutions," said Dmitry Lippa, CEO of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine.
According to the NCRECU decision, the cost of transporting natural gas will rise from 124.16 UAH to 501.97 UAH per thousand cubic meters, representing an increase of nearly 305%.
Dmitry Lippa noted that the Gas Transmission System Operator has taken all possible measures to reduce costs: compressor stations are being closed and preserved, staff numbers are being optimized, and expenses are being reduced.
