Thanks to aerospace imagery, an oil slick has been detected in the Bug Estuary.

Aerospace images revealed an oil slick in the waters of the Bug Estuary near LLC SP "Nibulon," and efforts to pump oil from the river are ongoing.

This was reported by Konstantin Zinkin, the acting head of the laboratory control department in Mykolaiv region, as stated on the page of the State Environmental Inspection of the Southwestern District.

It is noted that the inspection has sent a letter to the State Environmental Inspection of Ukraine regarding a request to the National Center for Space Control and Testing of the State Space Agency of Ukraine for additional information and aerospace images obtained during the survey of the Bug Estuary near LLC "EkoTrans."

On January 25, a film of vegetable oil was discovered in the waters of the Bug Estuary near the Cabotage Slip (next to LLC SP "Nibulon"). Laboratory measurements revealed an excess of oils and fats.

Currently, efforts to eliminate water pollution are still in progress.

After the cleanup operations are completed and full information is obtained, including the volume of collected oil, assessments will be made regarding the damage caused by the contamination of land resources and harm to water bodies due to the pollution of substances in their pure form.

According to the protocols of the composition and properties, contamination of land plots with organic substances extractable by petroleum ether has been established.

During the inspection, complete destruction of one tank containing 1783 tons of vegetable oil was discovered. The land area, approximately 7000 sq. m, is visually contaminated with oil. Additionally, outside the tank farm, oil contamination has been identified on a land area of approximately 700 sq. m. An inspection of the waters of the Bug Estuary revealed a vegetable oil slick covering an area of 1000 sq. m with an oil layer thickness of about 1 cm.

As previously reported by "Novosti-N," the consequences of the ecological disaster in Mykolaiv have still not been overcome, during which thousands of tons of sunflower oil were released into the Bug Estuary due to an enemy drone attack. Readers of "Novosti-N" report that the oil is not being pumped from the water on a daily basis and at an extremely slow pace.
