The White House: The US will no longer "write blank checks for war"

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that the new US administration is changing its approach to the conflict in Ukraine and is now focused on achieving long-term peace.

According to her, during a meeting in the Oval Office between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, tension arose as the Ukrainian leader did not show readiness to accept the current realities of the war.

“We will no longer write blank checks for a war that is far from us, without prospects for lasting peace. This is what the president is striving for,” Levitt emphasized.

She also noted that Zelensky did not express sufficient gratitude for the support from the US, which affected the signing of an important economic agreement.

Levitt stressed that Trump remains committed to peace negotiations, but progress is only possible with a change in the position of the Ukrainian leader. According to her, the US president made it clear that he would not back down when it comes to the interests of the American people.
